Electric Youth

Interview with Zariah

Fashion survives off two things; the classics and the youth… Every year fashion houses new and old agree that there has to be classic designs and artistry paired with the vibes of what the youth are bringing to  music, style and the life urbane.

As images of Chanel jackets and Cardi B danced in our heads we look to showcase the up and coming models, designers and style creators of the new millennia, who are doing things their way.

Meet Zariah Benadao a SELECT Model from Atlanta, who is building her name and brand the new way, with an organic following and networking with some of the most sought after photographers and designers. Did we mention she’s only 16 making these moves?

1, 2, 3 let’s go…

AR: How do you connect to the industry? How do you keep your name out there?

ZB: Social media is definitely the main way I connect with the industry and photographers. Taking advantage of my social media platforms is also a way for me to get my name out there.

AR: What would you tell models coming into the industry now?

ZB: I would tell new model to always believe in yourself, set goals, have pure intentions, and stay determined no matter how many no’s or yes’s you get.

AR: How has the quarantine affected your career?

ZB: One of the major ways that I have been affected by the quarantine is not being able to do photoshoots as frequently due to social distancing.

AR: Have you attended fashion modeling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?

ZB: Through my agency SELECT Management I have attended a model bootcamp and zoom info sessions. These focused on key topics such as, casting calls, social media etiquette, runway walking, fitness and nutrition.

AR: What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?

ZB: My goal is to become a supermodel and grace the cover of elite magazines such as Vogue and Elle. I see myself being very progressive and successful in this field. Modeling is not just a career for me but a passion.

AR: What do you know about photography?

ZB: I know that you have to be extremely talented and have a vision for the image you want to create. “Behind every super model is a talented photographer.”

AR: How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?

ZB: I feel that I communicate very well with people. I make sure that I listen and comprehend what is being asked of me so that I am able to fully execute the clients wishes. I am very open with client requirements as I am there to fulfill the clients vision. However, if I was ever uncomfortable with a clients requirements I would be sure to contact my agent before proceeding.

AR: Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?

ZB: Yes, I do eat very nutritiously. I am vegetarian and I make sure to take my needed supplemental vitamins. However, I do believe that twizzlers and chipotle are the best thing ever. I exercise about 4 times a week mostly abs and a little cardio.

AR: What do you hope to accomplish with your modeling career?

ZB: In addition to becoming a super model my goal is to be an inspiration to girls around the world. I want them to see that with a God given vision, hard work and dedication nothing can stop you from fulfilling your purpose.
