Every so often, fashion seems to take a break from the elegance and gets a little comfortable. For the past few seasons, we have experienced a renewed sense of fun that fashion offers.  Reliving the funkiness of the 90s has had such a prescience for the past few years, that the fashion industry has adjusted itself to accommodate and support the impact of streetwear. However, the recherché of Greta Constantine’s fall collection kicked off the NYFW season with a reminder of the glamorous mystique that makes the fashion world what it has always been.

Primarily Toronto based, Greta’s SOHO presentation was absolutely sumptuous. Walking into the venue there was a slideshow of lookbook photos of the collection set as a backdrop for the bar. It was a nice preview while the guests happily sipped their wine before going into the other side of the loft style venue. After going through the struggle of checking in my coat, it was finally time to see the work!

The music blasted and all I could see is a small group of chic models in this beautiful, elegant yet funky collection.  The glamour of the models were comparable to the likes of 1990s supermodels Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.  Each girl looked individually stunning while coupled with a distinct look that seemed to be put together specially for each model. The entire collection is polished enough to incorporate into an office look, elegant enough to go out on the town. There was a mysterious color scheme for the season; deep purples and grays.
