Nonie’s SS19 collection incited personal nostalgia with its timeless and straightforward pieces inspired by silhouettes of designer Nina Kharey’s Indian heritage.
Kurti pajamas and draped fabrics were reimagined with flowing satin and edgy cutouts, while ruched skirts and plunging necklines added modernist touches. Although predominantly monochromatic, vibrant hues like yellow and red were incorporated, no doubt to satisfy the color thrill seekers. A half-magenta-half-red wrap dress particularly stood out, reminding one of the eye catching colors combinations you’d normally see in Southeast Asian textiles.
“This line was created from my heart and passion. It’s made up of clothing designed for women who don’t want the hassle of figuring out how to wear certain trends or statement pieces, but want to look well put together instantly. It’s for women who appreciate longevity with their clothes,” says Kharey.
The fusion of traditional styles and contemporary ideas were impeccably achieved in Nonie’s debut collection, and are sure to remain wardrobe staples for years to come.
