NYFW: Men's SS19

ROMEO HUNTE

Athlesiure seems to have taken over the high fashion world and Hunte contributes with his latest ready to wear collection, offering an array of styles for everyday men looking for signature pieces.  This collection explores swimwear to Brooklyn street style, incorporating  his unique vision is to create modern classic apparel that is luxurious, practical and transitional as an antidote to the men’s fashion conundrum of having very few choices.

CARLOS CAMPOS

“I continue return to the heritage and DNA of my brand: expert hand tailoring with the clean, architectural lines and silhouettes that have been the benchmarks of the Carlos Campos collection.”

Perhaps it is the fact that Carlos Campos grew up in a design home -- son of a master tailor -- or his work at the New York City Ballet (both extremely meticulous disciplines) that contribute to his heritage of a clean, architectural silhouette. Maybe both.  For his latest SS19 collection, Campos weaves crisp tailoring with a bold color palette. If you thought color blocking was out; you’re wrong. Moreover, Campos enhances the juxtaposition of hues by adding in a constructive element.

Shirts that start off as a solid at the shoulder line are finished in a bold stripe. Pants that are could appear on Savile Row are slightly tweaked with an architectural cutout that sits right on the waist line and end at the crotch. Colors such as blushes and yellows (normally seen down womenswear runways) radiate with a confident and masculine presence.

Campos marries sartorial suiting with a nod to street style.

“But here I am. Next to you, The sky is more blue. In Malibu...”

That’s how Miley Cyrus’ song went and what Parke and Ronen’s SS19 collection inhabits. The collection draws its inspiration from the inimitable natural beauty of the Malibu landscape, combined with the synthetic beauty of LA culture as imagined during its over-the-top 80’s heyday.

“We’re picturing the cool-kid skater boy meets the preening peacock from Muscle Beach, with a healthy dose of the Hollywood hustler’s bravado thrown on top.”  In other words, a fantasy world where you could never look too fit or too tan, where ten-hour pool parties would spill over into late night romps on the beach.  Girl, sign me up.

A_I_R

This SS19 Collection has pieces for men and women, yet there is a versatility that either gender could wear. On the surface, the collection looks like a beautiful series of tracksuits and kimonos, but it is really a symbol of life’s simplicity. The collection is a dive into “the ordinary” and the lazy part of life that we often don’t get to enjoy until our retirements years. Finding ease, especially in crazy New York, is impossible.  Ease and comfort are the new luxury items that everyone wants and  it is precisely these luxury items that A_I_R delivers.
